6th Grade Orientation

After Orientation:
  • Each parent should be linked on Remind
  • Each parent should have downloaded the DAB IS228 website APP
  • Every child has their doe username and password
  • Received a laptop at Orientation
  • Has access to the Grade Level Google Classroom: Class of 2027 (see picture below)
  • Filled out a Blue Card and dropped off to IS228
  • Fill out a medical form by child' pediatrician (due first day of school)
  • Fill out the programming form (On grade level google classroom due by July 14)
  • Read through all of the IS228 paperwork

WELCOME LETTER & ORIENTATION

 

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Class of 2027, 

 

Welcome to I.S.228 David A Boody!  My name is Alexa Calisto (known as Ms. Alexa to most) and I am the Parent Coordinator at D.A.B.  I want to welcome you and your child to the Boody Family and are very excited to meet you all! Ms. Liberta-Cotto is your 6th Grade Assistant Principal and we are here to support you all during the transition from elementary to middle school.

 

To make the transition as smooth as possible, we have set up a 6th Grade Orientation date for families to come and visit our school.  We ask that each child coming to IS228 attend orientation with one parent. 

 

Included in the Orientation is as follows:

  • Students will receive their laptops that they will use for the next 3 years. If your child has received a laptop/I-Pad from the DOE, please bring it to the orientation. 
  • Building Tour for Students
  • Student Pictures for student profiles
  • Parent Orientation
    • What will September look like
    • After School
    • Supply Lists
    • Summer Homework
    • Magnet Programs
    • Dual Language Programs
    • Lockers
    • Bussing

 

We will have items for families to purchase that day as well.  I have attached a pricing list of the items we will have available.  Cash only!

 

Orientation will be held on the following dates and times below: 

 

Wednesday July 31 at 10am

 

If you would like to get a head-start, you can begin by downloading the REMIND App and join the Class of 2027. Code is @dab20277. We are asking every parent to sign up for REMIND. We will be using this app to send out information now and throughout the next three years. The Remind App is the best way to keep up to date with important information and reach the administration. My name on the app is Alexa Parent Coord, you can also reach Ms. Liberta-Cotto on the app as well.

Instructions to download the Remind App:

  • Go to the app store and download app: REMIND APP
  • Create an account with email or phone number (everything is private)
  • Confirm
  • Put in your first name, last name, password
  • Click I am a parent
  • Confirm 
  • Put in class code: @dab20277
